Two years after he was involved in an auto accident, Nollywood actor Victor Olaotan has reached out to the public for financial help to seek treatment abroad.

The actor is popular for his leading role as Fred Ade Williams in the widely watched soap opera Tinsel.

Ireti Doyle, who played his wife in the MultiChoice production, explained in an Instagram post on Sunday that his family has done all within their means and have been advised to seek further options abroad.

Although a GoFundMe account has been opened for to raise the sum of $50,000 for the ailing actor, it was learnt that he actually needs $70,000 to get back on his feet.

Filmmaker Mahmood Ali-Balogun disclosed this to members of Film4Life, a WhatsApp group of Nigerian motion picture stakeholders.

“Spoke with the wife, $50k for main hospital bill and $20k for necessary sundry support. A total of about $70,000 is required,” Ali-Balogun said.

Olaotan was involved in a ghastly car crash in 2016 along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway which cost him the use of both legs.

The accident pushed the much-loved thespian away from the public sphere with fears that he may have his limbs amputated.

“For the last two years he has been incapacitated following an accident. Victor is still fighting and he has been advised to seek medical attention outside our Nigerian shores. We implore your help in raising the funds,” the information on the GoFundMe page reads.

A total of $4,956 had been raised at the time of filing this report.

A graduate of the University of Ibadan, Olaotan has appeared in films like Towo Tomo, Lovestruck and Three Wise Men.
