Bayelsa State Government House photographer, Reginald Dei, who was shot by men in Army uniform in Oweikorogha, Southern Ijaw local government area of Bayelsa State, has died.

Mr Dei was shot alongside the leader of the PDP in Oweikorogha community, Seidougha Taribi, while the duo were waiting for the outcome of the presidential and National Assembly elections in their ward at
Taribi’s residence on February 23.

Spokesman of Bayelsa State Governor, Nathan Egba-Ologo, in a statement on Monday, said the photographer died after battling to survive the wounds from the gunshots in a Yenagoa hospital on Sunday night.

Dei was initially reported dead but managed to survive the attack until Sunday night. Taribi, on the other hand, died on the spot.

Egba-Ologo called on the relevant security agencies to investigate the activities of the various security agencies in order to bring the culprits to book.

The spokesman also alleged that thugs working for chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state have been wreaking havoc in Nembe Bassambiri.

He further said that the thugs have sacked mobile policemen and operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on deployment in the besieged community.

He, therefore, called on the military to come to their aid.
