Banning Sniper not the solution to suicide hike – Runtown

Runtown

Pop musician, Runtown, has said that the recent ban on insecticide, Sniper, was not the solution to the increase in the suicide rate in Nigeria.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control had placed a ban on production of smaller parks of the insecticides after series of deaths induced by its usage.

However in a tweet on Saturday, Rundown stated his belief that Sniper was the problem.

“Banning Sniper only tackles HOW people commit suicide not WHY people commit suicide.

“It’s like going to dry up the Lagos Lagoon because people use it as a tool for committing suicide. To truly curb this epidemic, we must focus on the reason WHY people do it,” he wrote.

On Tuesday, Runtown had decried the lack of Nigerian media reporting on the triple-bomb attack in Borno that left at least 30 people dead.

Qed.ng had reported that the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) estimated that 30 persons have been killed and 42 injured in triple suicide attacks in Mandarari community of Konduga Local Government Area of the state.
