Auditions for 2019 African Freestyle Football Championship hold in Owerri

Auditions for the third regional edition of the 2019 African Freestyle Football Championship organised by Feet ‘n’ Tricks held at the Cubana Lounge in Owerri, Imo State on Saturday, July 6th, 2019.

Onyia Anthony emerged winner in the male category of the Owerri Regional Championship following a keenly-contested final.

Okereke Prince and Christian Metu finished second and third respectively.

In the female category, Blessing Faith emerged winner, finishing ahead of Okafor Evelyn and Nkwocha Ezinne, who finished second and third.

The finalists in both the male and female categories went home with the sum of N100,000, N75,000 and N50,000 for their efforts.

Feet ‘n’ Tricks welcomed over 40 freestylers on-stage who competed for prizes worth hundreds of thousands of Naira as well as a chance to compete live at the national and continental competitions holding in September.

Two successful regional auditions have been held in Lagos and Warri.

Participants thrilled the lively fans with sensational ball juggling skills and tricks, while guests were also entertained by Lafin Gas and Che, a BMX Flatland cycler.

Street dance sensation, Poco Lee, was the host of the Owerri auditions, attracting hundreds of freestyle football fans, music enthusiasts and fun lovers

The final audition will take place in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja on July 13, 2019, at the Central Park.

The grand finale is scheduled for September 14 and 15 in Lagos, with over 100 participants representing about 30 countries expected to participate.

Last year, prizes worth more than $50,000 were won including a brand new car for the champions who was also sponsored to the World Championship.
