Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation, in partnership with companies under the Zinox Group, has donated an AI technology centre to Holy Ghost College, Owerri, Imo State.
The centre was unveiled during activities marking the school’s 77th anniversary.
The project was supported by companies within the Zinox Group, including TD Africa, Zinox Technologies, Task Systems and Konga Group.
According to the foundation, the facility is equipped with all-in-one Zinox computers, solar power, Starlink internet connectivity and interactive screens for online learning. The internet service has been provided for five years.
Founder of the foundation Leo Stan Ekeh, an alumnus of the college, said the project was aimed at exposing students to digital and artificial intelligence skills.
He said the centre would also offer training programmes and certification opportunities in technology-related fields.
Mr Ekeh disclosed plans to recruit personnel to manage the facility and train teachers in digital skills and modern teaching methods.
He added that the foundation and companies under the Zinox Group had supported similar projects in schools across the country and would continue investing in technology-based education initiatives.
Ekeh also announced plans to establish a 1,000-student technology scholarship scheme for indigent students in Nigerian universities and polytechnics through a partnership involving the foundation, Zinox Technologies, TD Africa, Task Systems and Konga Group.
He encouraged students to make use of the new facility and take advantage of opportunities in information and communication technology.
During the event, founder of Germaine Group Jerry Chukwueke donated N10 million to the school.
The AI centre was inaugurated by the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Lucius Ugorji alongside old student Cosmas Ibe.
Archbishop Ugorji thanked Leo Stan Ekeh for the donation and urged students to make proper use of the facility and protect it.
Principal of the college, Rev. Dr. Samuel Agu, expressed appreciation to the Ekeh family, saying the project would contribute to students’ development.
