President of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide Apostle Johnson Suleman has accused the police of complicity in the attack against his convoy along Benin–Auchi Road, Edo State on Friday.

Six people, including three police orderlies, were killed in the attack by gunmen.

On Friday night, Suleman posted to Twitter a video of one of the alleged gunmen shot dead and accused the police of a cover-up.

A voice believed to be that of a policeman said in the video that CSP Ayodele Sulaiman led a police team who went after the “kidnappers” and killed one of them in a gun duel. The voice added that the police were combing the bushes for other gunmen who sustained bullet wounds.

Suleman said the gunmen were not kidnappers, but assassins.

“Lies…there weren’t kidnappers. He was caught and handed over and the police killed him immediately. Why? Why killing him on the spot? Who is trying to cover up traces?” he said.

It was gathered that the cleric returned from a programme in Tanzania and was heading to a destination in the state when the gunmen attacked his convoy.

Suleman has a long-running battle with some entertainers over allegations of sexual misconduct.
