Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State on Tuesday met with the governor of Borno State, Hashim Shettima, during orientation programme for federal lawmakers in Abuja.

Amosun and Shettima are among the newly elected federal lawmakers.

The duo were said to have left the orientation programme for about one hour to hold private talks.

The ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), has endorsed Ahmed Lawan for Senate president. However, a strong contender in Senator Ali Ndume has threatened to disrupt the party’s zoning arrangement as was seen in 2015.

Ndume is a senator from Borno. It is unknown if Shettima and Amosun are planning to support Ndume’s bid for the position.

Ndume also held talks with other senators-elect at the venue of the programme.

Some of those he spoke with was former governor and Senator-elect from Benue State, Gabriel Suswan, Isah Jibrin from Kogi State; and Boma Mohammed from Yobe State.
