An American woman, Jeanine Delsky, has arrived Panshekara, a suburb in Kano State, to marry Sulaiman Isa, whom she met on Instagram.
Ms Delsky, 46, who lives in California, USA, arrived at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano on Saturday and headed for Panshekara to meet the parents of her lover, Daily Nigerian reports.
The lovebirds met on Instagram in 2019, exchanged pictures and began courting online.
The news platform quoted Delsky, a mother of two, saying she came to Nigeria out of love for her 23-year-old boyfriend.
She said many people had courted her online but she found Mr Isa as the most loving and sincere.
Delsky also said they would return together to the United States where they intend to start a family after getting married. The wedding is expected to hold in March.
“He messaged me on Instagram saying Hi,” she told Kano Focus in another interview.
“I didn’t respond because I have had experiences with Nigerian scammers. But there was a guy messaging me and Sulaiman knew he was a scammer so he said ‘get a job and quit scamming innocent people.’ So I thought he sounded like a nice guy.”
Isa, who is currently a barber, recently completed secondary school education.
“It’s even the Sunna of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, Peace be Upon Him, to marry a woman who is far older than you,” he said about the age gap.
The Kano indigene hopes to get Delsky to become a Muslim.
Isa’s mother, Fatima Suleman, said she had no objection to their relationship.
