Akinwumi Adesina meets Buhari amid AfDB probe

Akinwumi Adesina

President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, on Tuesday, paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Adesina arrived the State House around 2:55 pm.

The visit comes amid growing concerns over Adesina’s job following the call by the United States for independent probe of the AfDB after whistleblowers alleged Adesina was trying to Nigerianise the regional bank.

The bank’s board of directors had received commendations from President Buhari following its May 5 report which exonerated Adesina from the allegations.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had in a letter to some former African leaders called for support for Adesina who seeks a second term as AfDB boss.

AfDB, a regional multilateral institution, is owned by African countries but with the US as a major shareholder after Nigeria.
