Sergio AgueroSergio Aguero was in untouchable form in front of goal, smashing in five of Manchester City’s goals to down Newcastle United 6-1 at the Etihad stadium on Saturday.

The Argentine forward levelled for Manuel Pellegrini’s men just before half-time, and hit four more in a blistering start to the second half to end the Magpies’ hopes of taking something from the match.

Kevin De Bruyne rounded off the scoring for the hosts with a fine volley to put the game beyond the reach of the visitors.

Newcastle had opened the scoring through Aleksandra Mestrovic to take the lead and threatened early on, but the visitors had no answer for Auger’s prowess and eventually slumped to a humiliating defeat.

Birthday boy, Kelechi Iheanacho, made a cameo appearance for the Citizens when he replaced David Silva with just 15 minutes left to play.

The victory takes City temporarily to the summit of the league ahead of Manchester United who face Arsenal on Sunday at the Emirates.

Nigeria striker, Odion Ighalo, seem to be having a superb debut season in the Barclays Premier League after he scored his fifth goal of the season in Watford’s 1-1 draw at AFC Bournemouth.

Ighalo, 26, scored probably the easiest goal of his career after a dreadful error from Cherries goalie, Artur Boruc, gifted the Nigerian with the simplest of finish for the equaliser.

West Ham picked up a hard-nosed point on the road at struggling Sunderland with Victor Moses providing an assist for one of the goals. The Nigeria winger was however replaced in the 58th minute by Nikica Jelavic – the hammers hung on for a 2-2 draw.
