Adunni Ade marks birthday, reveals secret daughter years after birth

Nollywood actress Adunni Ade

Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has revealed that she welcomed a baby girl more than two years ago, sharing the news publicly for the first time on her birthday.

The actress made the announcement in an Instagram post on Sunday, sharing photographs from her pregnancy alongside a close up image of her daughter’s hand.

Explaining why she kept the birth private, Adunni said she and her family chose to enjoy the experience away from public attention.

“Today, on my birthday, I’m finally sharing what we’ve protected for over two years,” she wrote.

The actress described the period as a journey marked by “silent battles” and moments that tested her strength.

According to her, the decision was not driven by secrecy but by a desire to protect her peace and family life.

“We chose privacy. Not because we owed anyone secrecy but because peace is priceless, and not everything good needs an audience. We wanted to enjoy our blessing,” she said.

Adunni also addressed assumptions often made about women raising children outside public view.

“Not every single mother fits your assumptions. Not every story is scandal. Not every blessing comes with drama attached,” she wrote.

Speaking about her daughter, whom she called Baby Sal, the actress described the child as a long awaited answer to prayer.

“God gave me mine. Fully. Peacefully. Intentionally. A journey of almost a decade. Our baby girl, our answered prayer, my evidence that God still writes beautiful stories in His own time,” she said.

She added that there is a side of her life that remains separate from her public image.

“Adunni Ade online is one thing. Adunni Adewale at home is something you may never fully understand and that’s okay,” she wrote.

The actress also thanked fans and supporters who have prayed for her family over the years.

Before Sunday’s announcement, Adunni was publicly known as the mother of two sons, D’marion and Ayden, whom she has often featured on her social media pages. She has frequently spoken about raising them as a single mother and maintaining a close relationship with them.

Born in Queens, New York, to a Nigerian father and a German Irish mother, Adunni moved to Nigeria in 2011 and later built a successful acting career in Nollywood. She has featured in several English and Yoruba language films, including It’s Her Day, SoĂłlè and Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti.

The revelation means Adunni is now publicly known as a mother of three, with Baby Sal becoming the newest addition to a family she has largely kept away from the spotlight.
