Adeboye’s son thanks Daddy Freeze for growth in church’s tithes

Leke, the youngest son of General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has mocked radio presenter, Daddy Freeze, over his anti-tithing crusade.

The controversial Cool FM personality has built a cult followership with his #FreeTheSheeple campaign popular for its often scathing criticism of Nigerian Pentecostal churches.

That campaign compelled Leke, a pastor in his father’s megachurch, to fire at the University of Ibadan graduate in a message posted on Twitter on Monday.

According to the young pastor, rather than affects the church’s fortunes negatively, Daddy Freeze has contributed to the growth of the RCCG since he began his crusade.

“There has been a 33% increase in the amount of people paying their correct tithes,” the man who once said his father loves James Bond movies wrote.

He added that there has also been an increase in the number of people visiting his father’s personal website.

“So I personally want to ‘thank you’ Daddy Freeze” he added and also captioned the post saying “Thank you my brother.”

This comes weeks after #FreeTheSheeple hashtag promoter shared a video of Pastor Adeboye asking people to donate N1 Billion and captioned it “This is the kind of false preaching that probably plunged us into poverty in the first place.”

The often combustible Freeze has faced numerous challenges over his campaign.

Apart from open attack by clergymen like Johnson Suleiman and Matthew Ashimolowo, his Instagram account was once suspended allegedly over complaints by pastors.

A fellow presenter on Cool FM, Diplomatic OPJ, recently accused some pastors of threatening advertisers to stop patronising the station.
