Filmmaker and comedian Adeshina Okiki, popularly known as Janmole, has died.
News of his death surfaced on Monday, after an Ibadan based radio station, Success FM, announced his death in a Facebook post.
The station described him as a talented actor, filmmaker and comedian whose contributions to the Yoruba movie industry would be remembered.
It wrote: “Heartbreaking news hits the Yoruba movie industry as multi-talented actor, filmmaker, and comedian Adeshina Okiki Oshin, popularly known as Janmole, has reportedly passed away.”
Bolaji ‘Mr Latin’ Amusan, the president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), announced the actor’s death in an Instagram post.
The association’s leader disclosed that the theatre practitioner died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Mr Latin also offered prayers for the late actor, asking for peaceful rest and divine comfort for the grieving family.
“May the soul of our departed colleague, Adesina Okiki Janmole, who tragically lost his life in an accident, rest in perfect peace,” he wrote.
“May God grant his family, friends, and colleagues the strength and comfort to bear this irreparable loss. He will be greatly missed. Amen.”
Following the announcement, condolences poured in from fans, colleagues and other members of the entertainment industry.
Condolences were also extended to his family, friends, the people of Okeho and members of the Nollywood community.
Janmole was known for his appearances in Yoruba films and comedy skits, where he built a following with his humorous roles and performances.
Tributes have continued to appear on social media, with colleagues and fans remembering him for his work in film and comedy.
His death comes nearly four years after he survived a serious road accident in September 2022. The actor was involved in a crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in which the vehicle he was travelling in caught fire. He later shared a video expressing gratitude for surviving the incident.
