Abductors release wife of Sun DMD, Steve Nwosu

Steve and Toyin NwosuToyin, wife of Deputy Managing Director/Deputy Editor-in-Chief of The Sun Publishing Limited, Mr Steve Nwosu, who was abducted at her home in the Okota area of Amuwo Odofin of Lagos State on Monday, has been released by her captors.

She returned home early Thursday morning.

The kidnappers were said to have dropped her near the Zenith Bank branch by Festac bridge and sped off in a boat.

Gunmen, numbering about seven, stormed Bale Street in Ogundairo Bashorun Sunmonu Akanwo Estate, Okota at about 1a.m.

They were said to have gained entrance into a building close to Nwosu’s house with the aid of an abandoned ladder used to paint the building.

Narrating his family’s ordeal to qed.ng, Mr Nwosu said the abductors had robbed other buildings before they got to his own

“They got to our house and demanded for money, saying ‘give us our money, where is the dollar,’” the former editor of Daily Sun told us.

Some of the robbers even made to remove television sets mounted on the wall and other valuables.

“The robbers eventually went away with my wife when they could not find the kind of loot they wanted.”

The robbers later contacted Mr Nwosu and demanded a N100 million ransom for his wife’s release.
