Commonwealth scholarships alumni body in Nigeria swears in new excos

The Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows Alumni Association Nigeria (CoSFAN) have inaugurated its new executive committee.

The inauguration was done on Tuesday in Abuja at the association’s annual general meeting and end-of-year workshop.

New officers sworn-in by Victoria Awomola were Abiola Adimula as president, Ojochide Akagwu as vice president, and Chidi Ezegwu as general secretary.

Others are Taiwo Obe as publicity secretary, Aminu Ado as treasurer/financial secretary, and Samuel Oyegunle as North-Central regional coordinator.

Mr Adimula, a lawyer and lecturer at the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin, Kwara State was previously the association’s secretary-general.

Mr Ado, a chartered accountant with a petrochemicals company in Lagos, retained his position.

At least 2,000 Nigerians have, since 1959, benefitted from the scholarships and fellowships awarded by the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission, UK.

The new executives are expected to serve for two years, renewable for another two years.
