A Nigerian woman, Elizabeth Kperrun, is billed to attend a garden party with new father, Prince Harry, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Commonwealth.

The party is scheduled to hold at Marlborough House in London, United Kingdom on June 14.

Harry, who is Commonwealth youth ambassador, will be introduced to the winners of the inaugural Commonwealth Secretary-General’s Innovation for Sustainable Development Awards.

Benue-state born Kperrun, one of the proposed recipients of the inaugural award, will be honoured for creating mobile learning apps with the aim of improving education for African children and young adults.

The awards, which have five categories – People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership, celebrate outstanding young people from the 53 Commonwealth countries who are developing solutions to overcome international challenges in areas including human rights, women’s empowerment and climate change.

Another proposed recipient of the award is Leilua Lino from Samoa, a victim of sexual violence, who has created a ‘peace garden’ designed to support others who have experienced similar trauma.

Kperrun has through her company, Zenafri Limited, created educational apps for African kids of all ages. To date, her apps have been downloaded more than 120,000 times, and daily active users average 2,500.

She has won several grants for her work in improving education in Africa, among them is the ICT for Children Grant, a special recognition offered by Fondazione Mission Bambini, an Italian-based foundation.
