I cried when they first told me about this late last night. If you knew the full story about our long, grueling journey to get here, you would understand the tears. There were obstacles in form of circumstances, there were obstacles in form of people. Remember, we couldn’t even have a proper opening weekend. One thing that didn’t change was the goal at the end, and one thing that was constant was God’s wings and direction every step of the way. This is not luck. This is not a fluke. It involved A LOT of hard work and militant focus, but the most important is the grace of God. If you’re not sure yet, I’ll tell you for free that God has had is hand permanently on my life, my hands, and on KOB. All glory to him always. I’m so grateful to him, I’m so grateful to the dedicated cast and crew that broke back to make this happen, to my distribution team @filmoneng that stay pulling out all the stops… And finally, grateful for you all that supported with your time and by spending money to take this film to where it is now. You guys pushed this movie as if it were YOURS and you are part of the KOB family. And that’s because you are!! Thank you all so much 🙏 Congratulations to the KOB team, cast members and to YOU guys going out to watch. We’ve hit one milestone… Let’s push further 💪🏾 Ladies and gentlemen, @kingofboysmovie… only the 7th nollywood film EVER to cross the 100m mark!!! 🙌🏾 #GracedUp #YourDreamsAreValid #KOBSeason #KOBFEVER

Starring Sola Sobowale, Adesua Etomi, Reminisce, Jide Kosoko and others, King of Boys was released in the weekend of October 26.

It had previously achieved the feat of the biggest ever opening week for a non-comedy Nollywood film, second highest opening of a Nollywood film in 2018 and the second highest opening week by a female director.

The next target, according to Moses Babatope of FilmOne Distribution, is the N150million mark.

If King of Boys keeps its strong pace, Babatope told members of a WhatsApp group, “Even N200million and a run into December may not be out of reach.”

Kemi Adetiba directed her first feature film, The Wedding Party, in 2016.

The film grossed N453, 050,000 at the cinema.
