Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has expressed shock at the death of popular actress, Moji Olaiya, eight days after she died in Canada.

In a statement issued in Beijing, China, on Thursday, the minister said he received the news of Moji’s Olaiya death with rude shock and disbelief.

He described it as a big loss, especially to her family, the movie industry and indeed all her friends and admirers.

He said the contributions of the late actress to the growth of the burgeoning Nollywood will never be forgotten.

Mohammed then prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul, and for strength and comfort to her family and friends.

Moji Olaiya’s death occurred on May 17, two months after she was delivered of a baby girl in Canada.

A burial committee headed by fellow actress, Fathia Balogun, recently announced that former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, has paid to repatriate her corpse to Nigeria.

The body was yet to arrive Nigeria as at the time of filing this report.
