5 men docked over alleged burglary, theft of ladies’ shoes worth N650,000

Five men were on Wednesday brought before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly burgling a warehouse and stole 15 cartons of ladies’ shoes valued at N650,000.

The accused are — Hassan Muhammed, 21, Mamud Muhammed, 25; Amidu Mahmud, 18; Alamusi Ali, 18; and Usman Dauda, 18.

The accused were arraigned before Magistrate Omolaja Kazeem on a three-count charge of burglary, theft and damage to property.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the offences.

The prosecutor, ASP Fidelis Dike, told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 24, at 12 midnight at No. 4 Nnamdi Azikwe St., on Lagos Island.

He said that the accused conspired to burgle the warehouse of Mr Sunday Ugbaja and stole 15 cartons of ladies shoes valued at N650, 000.

The prosecutor alleged that the accused persons also damaged the door of the warehouse valued at N250, 000.

“The five accused that had no residential address, was fond of sleeping around the warehouse.

“They were sighted by a security guard while burgling the warehouse which led to their arrest,” he said.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 287, 309 (2), 339 (1) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

Magistrate Kazeem granted the accused N200,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.

He fixed further hearing on the case for June 28.
