4 men in court for alleged N2.8m car theft

Four men, Nse Okon, Micheal Ofulue, Innocent Okeleke and Obot Ebong on Friday appeared before an Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a car worth N2.8 million.

Okon 34, Ofulue 42, Okeleke 39 and Ebong 42, are facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, ASP Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendants committed the offenses on January 11 at Amazing Grace Car Wash, Governor Road, Ikotun, Lagos.

Aigbokhan said that the defendants stole a Toyota Camry worth N2.8 million with registration No. FKY 389 FU, belonging to Mr Sanni Quadic.

He said that the defendants were contracted to wash the car but drove it to an unknown destination.

Aigbokhan said that the complainant reported the case to the police and the defendants were arrested.

He said that the offenses contravened Sections 251,286 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

The Magistrate, Miss K. A. Ariyo, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Ariyo ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case until March 3 for mention.
