32-year-old Adebo Ogundoyin emerges Oyo speaker

Adebo Ogundoyin, new Oyo speaker

Oyo State House of Assembly has elected a 32-year-old Adebo Ogundoyin, as its speaker.

Mr Ogundoyin represents Ibarapa East State Constituency.

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ogundoyin first joined the 8th Assembly in 2018 after he won the bye-election held after former speaker, Michael Adeyemo, died on April 27, 2018.

The new speaker was unanimously elected on Monday through a voice vote of the 32 members of the assembly.

Oyo assembly has 26 PDP members, All Progressives Congress (APC) has five members while one member is from Action Democratic Party (ADP).

New governor of Oyo, Seyi Makinde, is also a member of PDP.

Ogundoyin is one of the sons of late industrialist, Adeseun Ogundoyin, a native of Eruwa, Oyo State, who died in 1991.
