Two men, Momodu Alawode and Yusuf Samson, are to spend the next six months in jail for stealing six packs of black battery, body cream and other items valued at N100, 000, an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun ruled on Tuesday.

The duo of Alawode, 28, and Samson, 19, had pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy slammed on them.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. B. B. Adebowale, who handed down the verdict, said the men were found as charged.

She, however, gave them an option of N20,000 fine in lieu of the three months imprisonment given each of them.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Cpl. Abdukareem Mustapha told the court that the accused committed the offences on October 27 at 5.00 a. m. at Ijoko near Ota.

Mustapha said the accused broke into a shop and stole six packs of black battery, six packs of body cream and other valuables worth N100,000.

The offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
