The movie industry has been thrown into a state of mourning following the death of veteran actor Ameachi Muonagor.

Amaechi’s death was confirmed by fellow actor Kingsley Orji on Sunday.

The movie star died after suffering from kidney-related issues, diabetes and stroke.

Here are 10 things you should know about the late actor.

1. Ameachi hailed from Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.

2. He died at age 61.

3. He was undergoing weekly dialysis and physiotherapy to treat the paralysis brought on by stroke.

4. His demise comes just days after he cried out for financial assistance on social media to enable him pay for a kidney transplant in India.

5. He was famous for his role in ‘Aki and Pawpaw’, where he played the role of the father of two mischief-making young boys played by Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme.

6. Amaechi Muonagor is survived by his wife, Hope Chikodi Muonagor, and their children.

7. He was the cousin of actor Tony One Week Muonagor who first revealed that the actor was also battling with diabetes and kidney disease in addition to the stroke.

8. In 1989, after his youth service, Ameachi started working for the News Agency of Nigeria.

9. He left his job a few years later for his first acting role in the Igbo film Taboo where he played the character Akunatakasi.

10. Some of his other movies are Peacemaker, Igodo, Ebube, Last Battle, Anambra Women, Evil World, Code of Silence, Aki na Ukwa and Karashika.
