Obafemi Martins

Super Eagles striker, Obafemi Martins, has joined Chinese side, Shanghai Shenhua, in a multi-million dollar deal according to BBC Sport.

The 31-year-old striker follows the footstep of superstars such as Ramires, Jackson Martinez, Gervinho and Stephane Mbia in moving to the Asian nation.

Martins leaves the American Major League Soccer where he scored 43 goals in 84 appearances for Seattle Sounders.

The Blue Devils as they are fondly called are based in Kangqiao, Shanghai and are currently sixth in the Chinese Super League standings.

Coached by Spaniard Gregorio Manzano, Martins will link-up with the likes of former Chelsea star Demba Ba, Tim Cahill and Fredy Guarin.

Apart from the MLS, the striker had stints in European sides such as Inter Milan, Wolfsburg, Rubin Kazan, Levante and Birmingham.

He has scored 18 goals in 41 games for Nigeria and was voted Africa’s most promising talent in 2003 and 2004
