Zaaki Azzay’s ex-wife bags heroes award

Hadiza Yadoo Anyamikegh, former wife of veteran singer, Zaaki Azzay, was given the Heroes Award by women’s rights organisation, Project Alert, at their 16 anniversary celebration over the weekend.

She was recognised for brave fight against domestic, sexual and gender based violence, having made headlines in 2012 after she accused the father of her three children of domestic violence.

Zaaki responded to the allegations through a press release where he neither denied nor affirmed the accusations. He however mentioned Project Alert has the organisation backing his then wife’s claim.

“I am surprised that Project Alert or whatever they call themselves and the person who ran away from her matrimonial home months back, and who after a few months, came with thugs, hefty looking men in a black unregistered car, beat up my cousin and injured her on her way back from picking the kids from school and forcefully adopted my children, and then went to court after doing that, can now run to the press and post so many statements to tarnish my image on the internet,” he wrote.

Zaaki has since moved on from his ex-wife. The torch-bearing celeb got married to 24-year-old Hembadoon Maskaven Ugema on May 10, 2014 and they welcomed a child later that year.
