Yoruba novelist, Oladejo Okediji, dies at 89

Veteran Yoruba writer, Oladejo Okediji, has died at the age of 89.

One of his children, Goke, told journalists that the novelist died at his residence at Mabolaje area of Oyo State on Wednesday morning.

Goke added that his octogenarian father was not sick before his death.

Okediji is said to have patterned his novels after the investigative works of English novelist, Agatha Christie.

The deceased’s works include, among others, Aja Lo Leru, Rere Run, Agbalagba Akan, Atoto Arere, Karin Kapo, Opa Agbeleka, Oga Ni Bukola, Sango, Iroyin Ayo, and Binu Tiri.
