Yemi Solade mourns onscreen son Rico Swavey

Actor Yemi Solade has mourned his onscreen son and reality star Rico Swavey who died after a ghastly car accident.

Rico’s shocking death was announced by fellow reality star Alex Unusual in a Twitter post on Thursday, October 13.

She wrote: “This was not what we agreed Rico. Rest In Peace #ricoswavey.”

Reacting to the tragedy in an Instagram post on Thursday, Yemi posted photos of himself and the deceased on the platform, praying for eternal rest.

He wrote: “Gone too soon. One of my onscreen sons Rico Swavey. May God accept your creative soul. Rest in eternal bliss.”

Other movie stars have also reacted to the shocking death on Instagram.

Uche Ogbodo wrote: “Oh no. Rest in peace Rico.”

Junior Pope wrote: “This is cold, sad, sad sad.”

Uchenna Nnanna who could not hold back her tears added: “Oh why.”

Rico was hospitalised on Tuesday, October 11, after the accident.

Confirming the accident in a Twitter post on Wednesday, Rico’s management stated that the 29-year-old was in critical condition.

The tweet read: “Hello everyone, Rico Swavey is not disposed to handle his socials right now as he was involved in a ghastly accident and is currently on life support. While his situation is critical and doctors are on him, We implore your support and prayers.”

Born Patrick Fakoya, Rico Swavey contested in the third edition of the reality show in 2018.

The Babcock University graduate was also a lawyer and an actor.

Rico is best known for his role in the drama series Life 101.

He released a song titled ‘Afrosantana’ in 2020. He also dropped another ‘Emotions’ the same year.
