Woman rescued as 3 storey building collapses in Ebute Metta

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) says a woman believed to be in her 30s has been rescued from the rubble of the Ebute Metta building collapse at No. 95, Abeokuta Street by Cemetery.

LASEMA DG Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu stated this in a release on Friday.

“The agency received a distress call at about 1.10pm. Upon arrival at the scene of incident, it was discovered that a three storey building collapsed with as yet undetermined cause,” he said.

“Agency Responders, LRU Ambulance unit, Lasambus, LABSCA, Material Testing Agency, LASG fire service, Police, IKEDC are joint responders at the scene of incident.

“Search, rescue and recovery operations carried out and an adult female (approximately 30 years) has been rescued from the rubble using the agency’s DELSA equipment. Victim has been transferred to hospital.”

Oke-Osanyintolu said the area had been cordoned off and that nearby buildings are being checked for any damage.
