Former NBA President Wole Olanipekun has been inducted as President of the Council of Chairmen and Grand Patron of HOC Capital Club.

The induction ceremony brought together business leaders, policymakers, diplomats, traditional rulers, investors and professionals.

Former Delta State governor Chief James Ibori, who attended the event, said older generations have a responsibility to support younger entrepreneurs, professionals, industrialists and policymakers. According to him, national development depends on creating opportunities for younger leaders to gain access to mentorship, knowledge, networks and institutional support.

Mr Ibori said HOC Capital Club could help promote collaboration between generations and contribute to leadership development.

Founder and chairman of the club Olufemi Badejo described the induction as an important moment in the organisation’s growth.

“When we conceived HOC Capital Club, we envisioned more than a private members’ club. We envisioned a platform where global connectivity, economic collaboration and leadership development could thrive. In Chief Wole Olanipekun, we found the ideal leader to help guide that vision,” he said.

Mr Badejo recalled sharing the vision for the club with Mr Olanipekun more than 18 months ago and said the senior lawyer encouraged him to proceed with the project.

In his acceptance speech, Wole Olanipekun spoke about the need to guide younger generations through mentorship and leadership development.

He compared leadership to passing a ball from one generation to another and said nation-building requires older leaders to hand over responsibilities to younger people at the right time.

According to him, HOC Capital Club can serve as a platform for sharing knowledge, leadership and opportunities.

Founded by Badejo, HOC Capital Club brings together leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers and industrialists while promoting leadership development, international collaboration and economic growth.
