Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Fireboy, others nominated for 2022 NAACP Image Awards

Singers Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Fireboy and Omah Lay have received nominations for the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) Award 2022 edition.

The nominees were announced in a statement published on Tuesday.

Wizkid and Tiwa were nominated alongside Fireboy and Omah Lay in the ‘Oustanding International Song’ category.

Wizkid was nominated for his hit song ‘Essence’ featuring Tems and American singer Justin Beiber who appeared in the remix.

Tiwa’s ‘Somebody’s Son’, featuring Brandy earned her a nomination while Fireboy received a nomination for his hit song ‘Peru’.

Omah Lay’s collaboration with Ghanaian artiste Kidi on the song ‘Touch it and ‘Understand’ earned him a double nomination.

The 53rd NAACP Image Awards celebrate outstanding achievements and performances of people of colour across more than 80 competitive categories in film, television; plus streaming, music, literature, and podcasts.

The winners will be announced during the two-hour live television special, which will be hosted by Anthony Anderson, the seven-time NAACP Image Awards winner.

The award show will be airing on February 26, 2022, at 8:00 pm ET/PT on BET.
