Wike ‘rescues’ Nunieh to govt house after police invasion

Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has moved the former acting managing director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Joi Nunieh to the Government House, Port Harcourt following police invasion on her home.

A government source confirmed to The Nation that Mr Wike arrived at Nunieh’s residence at No. 3, Owuru Creek View, off Herbert Macaulay Street, Old GRA, Port Harcourt and moved her to the government house with about 15 police officers around her residence.

Wike had earlier warned against harm on Nunieh, a native of Rivers.

Nunieh said armed policemen stormed her residence as early as 4 am on Thursday.

The former NDDC boss is billed to travel to Abuja to testify before an ad-hoc committee of the House of Representatives investigating alleged malfeasance in the NDDC.

Nunieh has been involved in a battle with the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Godswill Akpabio for alleged corruption and mismanagement of resources at the NDDC.
