Why Obalende incident happened – MC Oluomo’s aide

Jimoh Buhari, spokesman for the Lagos State chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers Musiliu Akinsanya alias MC Oluomo, says the Obalende incident on Thursday occurred because a rival union attempted to take over a motor park controlled by the NURTW.

Mr Buhari said what took place was contrary to reports that rival factions within NURTW clashed.

He named the rival union as Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) whose men dress in yellow uniform.

“Each of the unions has its own garage that it is operating within. But road employee union whose members put on yellow uniform went to attack our men who put on a white and green uniform,” Buhari told PUNCH.

“We have like three unions in Lagos but there are two major unions – NURTW and RTEAN.”

Buhari claimed one person who was caught and handed over to the police revealed it was the chairman of RTEAN Musa Mohammed who sent them to take over NURTW garage at Obalende.
