Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has stirred conversations with her candid reflections on love, relationships and personal boundaries.
The 45-year-old who appeared on the American podcast Air Service, opened up about the challenges of dating in her 40s and her experiences navigating public scrutiny.
Tiwa revealed that her pool of eligible men mostly includes those in their 50s or already married. On the possibility of being a second wife, she said, “If I meet somebody who can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married. Maybe I can be a second wife. I think so. I could be a second wife.”
She also emphasised her ability to maintain a respectful relationship with a first wife, adding, “I think I can go along with the first wife, and she’s going to love me because I’m not going to be troublesome. I’m going to be going on tours, I’m not really going to stress you. I’m very respectful, I know that you are the first wife and would accord you that respect.”
The mother of one also spoke on a controversial episode from her past, her leaked sex tape. She recalled, “A politician in Nigeria called me that I owe Nigerians an apology, especially the young girls, for my sex tape that leaked. I told him that I didn’t leak it intentionally and the man in the video was my boyfriend and I didn’t know he was recording me.
“Ever since that incident, whenever I wanna have intimacy with a man, it’s either my hotel, my room or my house. I will not go to the man’s place because he might have a camera. People really came for me when the sex tape leaked and I don’t know why.”
The singer’s openness about her dating life comes years after her highly publicized marriage to music executive Tunji Balogun (Teebillz), which ended in 2016 amid infidelity and financial controversies.
Since then, Tiwa has focused on her music career and raising her son, Jamil.
