Why I backed out of marriage plans – Reekado Banks

Singer Reekado Banks has revealed that he is no longer certain about getting married this year as he had previously planned.

The former Mavin Records artiste made the revelation in an interview on The Esther Show, saying his outlook on marriage has changed in the last two months.

“In my last interview, which was two months ago, I was pretty sure about my stance. I said I would get married later in the year, but now I’m in a very different place,” he said.

“So, I can’t say anything definite about getting married now. Back then, I was sure, but now I’m not.”

The ‘Easy (Jeje)’ singer, however, noted that he is still very much open to the idea of marriage.

“Absolutely, I’m still open to getting married in the future. That’s the life I’ve always known because my parents were married until my mum passed away,” he said.

According to Reekado, the decision to put marriage on hold has nothing to do with his music career.

“It has nothing to do with my music career. It’s about me and my emotional intelligence, which I’m still working on.”

Reekado Banks, whose real name is Ayoleyi Solomon, signed with Mavin Records in 2014 and left the label in 2018 to launch his own imprint, Banks Music.

In September 2024, the 30-year-old and his British girlfriend welcomed a baby boy. He shared the news on social media with a photo of him bottle-feeding the child, writing, “My biggest blessing so far. Thank you Jesus.”

Although he has never publicly revealed the identity of his partner, Reekado’s fans have continued to speculate about their relationship status.
