Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has said that he avoids collaborating with some filmmakers in Nollywood because they do not speak the same creative language.
Kunle stated this during a recent interactive session with his fellow filmmakers hosted by the organisers of the Africa International Film Festival(AFRIFF).
According to Kunle, collaborations in Nollywood often always lead to problems which he tries to avoid by sticking with like minds.
For me, I take my time, I don’t like problems. We all share different visions sometimes as creatives and the way we think is also very different.
“I don’t like to just talk to money bags. I don’t want someone who is just going to say what does it cost to make a film? I don’t like those things and those are the kind of things you get. Tunde Kelani and I have partnered on several levels. In fact, the last two films I was part of it as EP and actor. I collaborate with people who speak the same language,” he said.
Kunle Afolayan is the son of late theatre icon Adeyemi Afolayan, popularly known as Ade Love.
His first movie role was as Aresejabata in Kelani’s Saworoide released in 1999.
He has since then produced and directed several hit movies like The Figurine, Phone Swap, Citation, October 1, Ayinla and Swallow.
