Whitney Houston’s daughter not brain dead – Family

Bobbi Kristina BrownThe family of late Whitney Houston’s 21-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, on Thursday released a statement in response to media reports that loved ones were gathering at her bedside to say goodbye.

Bobbi Kristina has been in a medically induced coma since she was found face-down and unconscious in a bathtub on Saturday, January 31.

Her father, Bobby Brown, is said to be at the Emory University Hospital in Georgia, where she is being treated, along with close friends and family.

This has led to many media reports that she is brain dead and her family told there was nothing doctors can do to save her.

Fox News reported Wednesday that the situation is dire. “It’s now a matter of when the family wants to let go and accept that she’s pretty much not going to make it,” a source told FOX411. “They’ve left it up to the family as to how long they want to keep her alive.”

People magazine also reported that a doctor told Brown’s family on Wednesday that nothing more could be done. “Everyone is coming to the hospital to say goodbye,” said a family member.

And the Daily Mail says Brown has been taken off life support.

But a family statement denied all that, saying “There is no ‘family gathering’ today that is any different from any other day since (Bobbi Kristina) has been in the hospital — the family has been there since the weekend, so nothing any different today for them to be there than any other day. She is not brain dead, and the Houstons and the Browns are not fighting.”

Her pop star father, Bobby Brown, also issued  a statement late Thursday denying the reports.

“If we issued a statement every time the media published a false report regarding this matter, that’s all we would be doing 24 hours a day. This is false, just as is the vast majority of the other reporting that is currently taking place,” he said, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Brown’s family have however confirmed that drugs were found in her home, which she shares with husband Nick Gordon.

Tragically, Whitney Houston died in a bathtub from an ‘accidental’ drug overdose nearly three years ago on February 11.
