We are sad, traumatised over Junior Pope’s death – AMP president

The national president of Association of Movie Producers (AMP) Queen Blessing Ebigieson has expressed sadness over the death of actor Junior Pope who drowned in a boat accident.

Junior Pope was confirmed dead on Wednesday night after several attempts to resuscitate him failed. The actor alongside other crew members drowned in the River Niger area on their way back from the set of Another Side of Life, a movie produced by Adanma Luke.

Speaking with QEDNG on Thursday, Ebigieson who confirmed that Adanma is a member of the association, added that she is yet to hear from the actress cum movie producer regarding the issue and an official statement would be released after speaking with her.

Blessing Ebigieson said the association is sad and traumatised over the death of Junior Pope.

“We are said, we are traumatised. Until I speak to the producer, we don’t have a position yet,” she told QEDNG.

Meanwhile, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has banned its members from working with Adanma Luke as a producer till further notice.

In a statement signed by the national president Emeka Rollas on Thursday, the guild announced that Adanma Luke has been suspended from filming till further notice and no actor is allowed to work with her as a producer.

The guild also stated that “all films involving riverine areas and boating riding is hereby suspended indefinitely.”

“No shoot on all locations Nationwide on Thursday 11th April 2024. While we keep searching for the bodies of the remaining persons may their souls rest in peace,” the statement added.

Junior Pope got married to Jennifer Awele in 2014.

Their marriage produced three children.
