After visiting Osinbajo’s wife, Tambuwal’s wife commissions skills centre for women in Sokoto

Wife of Sokoto State Governor, Mariya Tambuwal has commissioned a skill acquisition centre built by a female entrepreneur, Shafa Lawal Mande, in Gwiwa Low Cost Area in the state capital.

While commissioning the centre, Hajiya Mariya applauded the founder for such initiative and expressed the state government’s desire to partner entrepreneurs and other interested individuals for socio-political development of the state.

“The state of emergency in education declared by the state governor is to ensure that Sokoto indigenes enjoy quality education that will help their future,” she said.

She called on parents all over the state to give their support through making sure they send their children to school.

Hajiya Mariya also appealed to other wealthy individuals in the state to emulate Hajiya Shafa with the assurance that the state government will do all it can to support such initiatives, which will reduce unemployment rate in the state.

On her part, the founder of the Shamlag centre, Hajiya Shafa said women will be trained on skills that will make them become self sufficient.

“They will learn skills like cooking, tailoring, make up, interior designing, event planning, perfume and other cosmetics,” she said.

She thanked the governor’s wife for coming to commission the project.

Qed.ng recalls that Hajiya Maria on Thursday last week visited the wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo, at the Presidential Villa in an effort to improve the well-being of women and children in the state particularly through access to education and health opportunities.

The meeting was designed to help Sokoto state become the champions of change on issues like women’s health, girl-child education, improving child mortality, and boosting women’s economic empowerment.
