Video: Sahara TV journalist, Victor Ogungbenro, arrested at #RevolutionNow protest

A journalist at Sahara TV, Victor Ogungbenro, has reportedly been arrested at the #RevolutionNow protest in Lagos.

His camera was reported to have been damaged in the process.

A video of the incident which is being shared on social media shows Mr Ogungbenro struggling with police officers as he yells “You are telling me what to do?”

The journalist was reportedly arrested after he refused to leave the vicinity of the National Stadium.

Protesters began converging at the stadium as early as 7 am on Monday.

The protesters met a team of security agents known as Operation MESA or OP MESA made up of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. They were also joined by police officers.

Gunshots and teargas were fired when the protesters started chanting solidarity songs and calling for the release of the convener of RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore.

Mr Sowore, a former presidential candidate, was arrested by the Department of State Security (DSS) on Saturday, two days before the commencement of RevolutionNow protests.
