Video of Goodluck Jonathan’s kidnapped cousin in shallow grave goes viral

Goodluck Jonathan cousin Mike Ogiasa in kidnappers den

A disturbing video of Mike Ogiasa, a cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has been released by his kidnappers.

Mr Ogiasa was kidnapped on June 4, 2022 in his hometown of Otuabadi in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

In the 27-second video, a half-clothed Ogiasa pleads for his life in a flooded grave with his hands tied and his face covered.

He says, “You’re seeing me in the grave. Please do everything possible to come and release me. Any money that is available…any money you can make. Do everything possible. Please any money that is available. Is the money more important than my life? Please do everything that is possible.”

Ogiasa was former Bayelsa State governor Seriake Dickson’s special adviser on power development.

Bayelsa police spokesperson Asinim Butswat said a combined investigative effort is in progress to rescue Ogiasa and arrest the kidnappers.

Ogiasa was also the convener of a socio-political group known as Voice of the South-South.
