Chelsea missed the chance to provisionally go on top of the Premier League table as they played out a 0-0 draw with Everton on Sunday afternoon.

Victor Moses who faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge wasn’t included in the matchday squad of the Blues.

He was expectedly made a spectator as speculation mounts on his playing rights for Chelsea.

The winger has been linked with a winter move to Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

Sunday’s meeting was the 180th competitive encounter between the two clubs, with Chelsea claiming 72 victories and Everton prevailing on 54 occasions.

The half-time whistle sounded at Stamford Bridge and it was goalless. Chances were few and far between, but tensions threatened to boil over.

The best chances for either side came from speculative left-footed volleys.

Bernard sent a fizzing effort just wide of Kepa Arrizabalaga’s post from 25 yards out, while Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso was denied from an acute angle by a super save from Jordan Pickford.

Some minutes into the second half, the Blues almost scored. Eden Hazard’s cross from the left found Alvaro Morata who was waiting for around eight yards out, but Pickford dived to his right to keep the shot out.

Chelsea thought that they should have been awarded a penalty when Mina hauled down Morata at the back post.

In the 65th minute the Blues hit the post. The ball fell invitingly to Alonso on the side of the area, and his half-volley beat Pickford and hit the outside of the far post.

The Blues then had a goal disallowed. They worked the ball around well before Azpilicueta crossed for Morata, who converted from close range. However, the forward was a yard offside.

Despite the late forays from the home side, the spoils were shared at Stamford Bridge.
