Victor Moses in, Isaac Success out for Super Eagles Algeria clash

Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has called up Chelsea forward, Victor Moses, for next month’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Fennecs of Algeria in Uyo.

Moses pulled out of the World Cup qualifier against Zambia earlier this month because of injury.

Watford’s Isaac Success, who also opted out of the Zambia match, is missing from the list of players to face the Algerians.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) had queried the two players for playing for their respective Premier League clubs without any sign of injury a week after the Super Eagles beat the Chipolopolo 2-1 in Zambia.

Moses now joins Chelsea teammate, Mikel Obi, Leicester City’s Ahmed Musa and goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and 19 others for the game against Algeria.

While Rohr has retained the bulk of the squad that defeated Zambia in Ndola to establish Nigeria at the top of Group B of the African race, the Franco-German tactician has also beefed up the playing body with in-form Israel-based midfielder, John Ogu, and Nigeria’s top scorer at the Olympic Men’s Football Tournament in Brazil, Oghenekaro Etebo.

Germany-based defender, Leon Balogun, back from injury, also returns, while English Premiership stars, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi and Odion Ighalo, are also called.

Former junior international goalkeeper, Dele Alampasu, and Dutch-based defender, Tyrone Ebuehi, are also invited.

Players are expected to start arriving at the team’s Bolton White Apartment in Abuja on November 6.

The Super Eagles welcome the Fennecs at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on November 12 in one of the potentially most explosive games of the African series.
