Veteran storyteller Jimi Solanke’s night of tributes holds April 1

A night of tribute for veteran storyteller, musician, actor and poet Jimi Solanke will be held on April 1.

The event tagged The ‘Last Dance’ will be held at the Freedom Park in Lagos and will kick off at 6 pm.

Billed to perform at the night of tributes are Ego Ogbaro, Yinka Davies, Segun Adefila, Yemi Sodimu, Gboyega Adelaja, Wura Samba, Aj Sequential, Ropo Ewenla, Edaoto, Poskii, Seun Olota, Eko Brass Band and Crown Troupe.

Jimi Solanke died in February 2024.

The storyteller, also known as Baba Agba, was born in Ipara Remo, Ogun State.

He began his career as a pioneer member of the Orisun Theatre Group founded by playwright Wole Soyinka in 1961.

He was 81 years old.
