Social media commentator Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan (VDM), and entertainer Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly called Mr Jollof, have engaged in a physical fight aboard an airplane.
A video shared online on Monday shows the two men grappling in the aisle as fellow travelers struggled to separate them.
At one point, someone filming asks, “Who started it?” and an off-camera voice responds, “It was Mr Jollof.” Others onboard can be heard pleading, urging the men to stop.
Reports say the fight began before take-off, but no airline, aviation authority, or government body has released an official statement. Neither VDM nor Mr Jollof has publicly addressed the incident.
The altercation is part of a long-standing feud. In September 2024, VDM publicly accused Mr Jollof and his wife of defamation, even claiming his home address was leaked online and that he was forced to live in a hotel due to safety concerns.
In response, Mr Jollof’s wife, Esinjemiyotan Atsepoyi, filed a N500 million defamation lawsuit against VDM in October 2024, demanding a public apology in national newspapers and on all his social media handles.
VDM’s controversies are not limited to this feud. He has faced multiple legal challenges, including cyberstalking and cyberbullying allegations involving high-profile figures like Iyabo Ojo and Samklef and a Lagos court once ordered him to delete defamatory content against lawyer Femi Falana, and his son, Falz.
The cause of the mid-flight fight remains unclear.
