Uzodinma, Araraume, Ohakim shun peace accord in Imo

Hope Uzodinma

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Hope Uzodinma, has shunned the signing of a peace pact by candidates participating in the elections in Imo State.

Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ifeanyi Araraume, also boycotted the event on Tuesday.

Candidate of the Accord party and former Imo governor, Ikedi Ohakim, also stayed away from the event organised by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).

However, Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance (AA), joined Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ikenna Emmanuel of Change Advocacy Party (CAP), and Linus Okorie of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), among others, in signing the pact.

Security chiefs, INEC officials, religious leaders and journalists witnessed the event.

The State Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, urged all stakeholders in the election to shun violence.

“You will agree with me that this hard earned peace and tranquility we enjoy and experience in Imo State should be guarded jealously, thus, we have no other option than to ensure this endures before, during and after the elections,” he said.
