I used to pay to perform at events – Harrysong

Harrysong

Before finding fame and fortune, Harrysong said he paid organisers to let him play at their events so people could see him.

The singer disclosed this on Wednesday while addressing the media at the first anniversary of D’banj’s CREAM in Ikeja, Lagos.

Harrysong, who rose to fame after his tribute song to Nelson Mandela won the Most Downloaded Callertune Award at The Headies 2013, recounted his experience as an up and coming musician to encourage others.

“Those days, we used to go to different events and we wanted to be heard. I remember many times I paid to perform. I paid some 10k, 20k to perform,” he said.

The former Five Star Music act recalled that he even got swindled in the process.

“Sometimes I paid and still didn’t get to perform. Why? Because they didn’t trust me. Dem no know me because I never blow. I fit go mess the show up.”

Harrysong has since dumped KCee’s Five Star Music to form Alterplate Music Company.
