US-based RCCG pastor Afolabi Olaoye resigns to become Soun of Ogbomoso

A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Afolabi Olaoye has resigned and shown interest in becoming the next Soun of Ogbomosho.

Olaoye was the lead pastor of RCCG Jesus House in Washington DC, United States.

He is gunning to replace the 20th Soun of Ogbomoso Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III who died late last year.

It was gathered that Ogbomoso kingmakers met last Thursday at Aafin Ogbomoso with the aspirants in search of the next Soun.

An online news platform Oyo Affairs quoted a source close to the clergyman as saying, “He (Olaoye) confirmed it yesterday (March 24), and he has relinquished his position as the lead pastor.”

Olaoye worked as an entrepreneur before becoming a pastor in 1992. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Language and master’s degree in industrial and labour relations.

He pastored three RCCG churches in Nigeria and one in Bonn, Germany before moving to the United States.

Another former RCCG pastor is the Olu of Ilaro in Ogun State, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle.
