Nigerian professor based in the United States Uju Anya has explained how her gay partner Sirry Alang proposed marriage to her.

Anya, 47, revealed on March 24 through posts on X that Alang secretly plotted with their children and friends and lied to her that they were attending a party only to be shocked with marriage proposal.

“It all began with serious, lovingly careful planning by Sirry, who called my senior sister, aunt, and brother to discuss things after we had agreed to marry. Then, she secretly plotted with our kids and friends to join the surprise. She even practiced the proposal with my son!” She wrote.

“Sirry said we were attending a party. Lies! I arrived to pick her up and had a massive shock. I knew and suspected absolutely nothing. She got me so good, y’all😂😂😂😂 I need to start checking this woman’s phone.

“I can’t describe this moment when Sirry asked me to be her wife. The happiness, the unadulterated, overwhelming joy to hear those words and have the chance to tell the woman I adore that, YES OF COURSE I will marry her.”

Who is Uju Anya’s gay partner Sirry Alang?

Anya said the wedding will happen in the Washington DC area sometime in the next two years, adding that they are unsure about the ‘aso-ebi’ colours for now.

Anya is a lecturer at the Carnegie Mellon University in the United States.

She became popular in 2022 after her tweet wishing the late Queen Elizabeth II an “excruciating pain” went viral.

Alang, on the other hand, is a Cameroonian-American health services researcher.

She is also an associate professor of Sociology and Health, Medicine and Society at Lehigh University.

Anya and Alang were said to have been married to men in previous years and had children.
