Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State (UNIZIK) has directed its Chinese lecturers who travelled for Christmas vacation not to return to the university over fears of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
The varsity’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Charles Esomone, disclosed this on Monday at a press briefing ahead of its convocation scheduled to hold between March 9 and 13.
Esomone said the institution also directed its Chinese lecturers who were in Nigeria during the Christmas break not to travel.
UNIZIK has also suspended a Chinese course in the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor said the Chinese course under Confucius Institute of the University would now be run online.
