Air Force officer Isetekelepirima Gogo-Akinrogunde

Acting head of mission and force commander, United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) Major General Benjamin Sawyerr has honoured Nigerian female Air Force officer Sqn Ldr Isetekelepirima Gogo-Akinrogunde on completing her tour of duty at the multi-national peace keeping mission.

Gogo-Akinrogunde was deployed as the leave/welfare officer of the mission which comprises troops from eight different countries made up of Bangladesh, China, Ghana, India, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Vietnam and staff officers and civilian staff from all over the world.

The officer was honoured for serving the mission meritoriously for one year.

Gogo-Akinrogunde was presented with the UNISFA plaque and Gold Coin for Peace in recognition of her service to UNISFA and peace in the Abyei Box.

Noting her contribution to the mission, Sawyerr said Gogo-Akinrogunde performed her assigned tasks creditably by ensuring troops leave and welfare matters were professionally handled.

He stated further that she worked tirelessly to ensure all visitors to the remotely located mission were well received.

Sawyerr added that Gogo-Akinrogunde brought to bear the professional and organisational acumen of a Nigerian military officer and did the Nigerian Air Force and Nigeria very proud.
